Morning Walk Vignettes - Tree Pruning.
This is about Nagpur and any other place with similar problem.
Some time back I had praised good work done by the concerned authorities, MNC / PWD / CPWD ( not sure exactly which agency was responsible.) of pruning the overgrown bougainvillea plants on road divider, near Hingna T point and along Hingna Ambazari Road.
About 5-7 years back trees were planted on both sides of the road. Fortunately lots of them have survived. These are now grown quite a bit. They offer shade, perch for the birds, add greenery to the city, are good for the environment and quite soothing to the eyes..
Problem is low height of branches of these tress encroach up to a width of 10 feet or more effectively reducing road width by that much. Thus big portion of the road totally unusable by any vehicle or even by pedestrians.See photo.
Low branches encroaching the road.
Some branches are as low as a foot or even lower.
Adverse effects of reduced road width need not be spelt out.
Request to MNC / PWD /concerned authority.
Periodically, when pruning of plants on road divider is being carried out, trees on either side of the road may also be pruned. This will effectivet make the full width of the road usable.
Hoping for positive response.
