Zero Mile Freedom Park Metro Station.

Zero Mile Freedom Park Metro Station.
On 21 Aug 21, Union Cabinet Minister Shri Nitin Gadkari inaugurated Zero Mile Freedom Park Metro Station.
Video clipping taken on the occasion had gone viral on social media.
With very good visuals and glowing details like one of its kind, 20 storied metro station, With platforms at 4th and 5th story of the building etc. To add to this shots of Freedom park also looked beautiful. While watching the video we had decided that we must see it at an early date.
This video had created a lot of hype. So much so that Ajeet, Ulka and a few friends from all around India even sent us a video and links to it. That motivated us to do this trip as early as possible. Went for it on the 26th of August 2021.
Must say that the video had raised the expectations very high. As often happens. the reality does not match up with the expectations.

Zero Mile Freedom Park Metro Station.

We travelled by blue line from Rachana Junction metro station to Sitabardi metro station. T Sitabardi metro station changed over to the orange line to go to Zero Mile Freedom Park Metro Station.
On arrival at Zero Mile Freedom Park Station when we got down on the platform we saw one worker was removing excess cement from the granite tile joints. We could see other workers giving finishing touches where required. Enquired from the worker, way to go up to 20th floor. We were told that the platform was on the 4th floor and nothing above that level was ready.
As it stands today, work is still going on to build the remaining floors of the building. Considering that the highest it has reached is the 4th-floor platform it may take quite a while to achieve the height to which this was raised in the video.
How the Zero Mile Freedom Park Metro Station will look when completed is shown on one of the photos displayed on the concourse. To look like that it may take another few years :-(

This is how Zero Mile Freedom Park Metro Station will look when completed

Descended to concourse level from the platform. Exited the station and descended further to ground level.
The approach roads to the station are not yet complete. May take a while to be completed. The station frontage itself is complete and looks very good and impressive.

Freedom Park.
To commemorate the Diamond Jubilee of 75 years of Independence (आजादी का अमुत महोत्सव)
I wish 75 was also written in Hindi.

When we went there to see Freedom park we were stopped by a security guard that the park is not open and people are not allowed to go there as work was in progress. When I was requesting him that we just wanted to have look and take some photos a supervisor overheard us, came and told the security guard to let us go. Very much thankful to him.
As per the info board, The Freedom park has :
1. History Wall.
2. Mahiti Kendra.
3. Amphitheatre.
4. Water cascade.

As the work was still not complete, other than the History Wall and the War Trophy we did not see anything else.
Few photos of Freedom Park.

While it is true that the said the video had raised our expectations very high, and frankly we were a bit disappointed on seeing that the reality is far different than the rosy picture painted in the video.
Our long metro ride from Rachana Junction to Sitabardi metro station, Changing the line from
Blue to orange. The huge concourses and multiple stories of Sitabardi station. Zero MIleFreedom Park Station itself was a revelation.
Operationalising the Orange line from Khapari to Kasturchand Park. Operationalising the Blue line from Lokmanya Nagar to Cotton Market clearly revealed that what has been achieved has been a major accomplishment of which Nagpurians can be justifiably proud.

About the ride in the next blog.

Then and now photos of Metro Aqua Line at Hingna T Junction.
This post has been inspired by Then and Now photos of  World War II published on FB.
In those photos, then and now photos were clicked of the same spot and same angle.
I have made an honest effort to take my Then Now photos, from the same angle and same spot.
I had to wait a long time to publish this post as I had to wait to take the photo when self and the metro train had to be at that spot and at the same time. Managed it this morning.
A collage is also included to record the progress of work.
The photos are NOT in the correct sequence in the collage. Unfortunately, I do not know how to rearrange the sequence. Kindly see dates at the right bottom corner

THANKS - To whomsoever, it may concern.

THANKS - To whoever it may concern.
I have been occasionally highlighting and trying to bring poor and unusable state of footpath stretch between subash nagar metro station and Hingna T point to the notice of concerned authorities through FB.
The latest FB posts on this subject were published on

This morning to my utter and pleasant surprise I noticed that work to clean the wild plants and weeds has already started. Photo of the same location this morning

Same location this morning.
Same location this morning.

I realise that this could be pure coincidence and has nothing to do with my posts on FB.
However, I would like to believe that someone is out there who looks after the footpaths and do take note of public grievances and tries to redress them.
SO,
THANKS - To whomsoever, it may concern.

Every day a learning day - Pretty Looking Flowers.

Every day a learning day - Pretty Looking Flowers.
The other day during my morning walk saw these flowers.

Each bloom is made up of a large number of smaller, individual flowers. Each individual flower is of a different colour. The bunching of different colour flowers in a single bloom makes it a very pretty looking flower.

In my younger days saw these flowers in abundance growing along stagnant water ditches one always finds along the railway tracks.
We were told it is a dirty plant.
No one told us why.
We never asked why.
Those days children did not ask "why".
Did not know its name then. Did not know it now.
Google was not there then. Google is here now.
So google zindabad.
The name is West Indian Lantana. other names include Spanish Flag, Lava, Feston Rose plant, Red Sage, Yellow Sage, Wild Sage, Lantana, Lantana Weed.
Considered bad because it is toxic to herbivores, produces chemicals to deter other plants from growing too close to it.
However, people with proper pruning, also use it as a house plant. It purifies the air in the house.
One learns something new every day.

Ignorance is bliss.

Ignorance is bliss.
The long-standing and heard adage " Ignorance is bliss." has been often quoted at, and by us, many times. Maybe it was so in those times and circumstances.
My recent experience has amply proved that this adage does not hold good in the world of smartphones, Google, Laptops and PCs.
The story of my experience..
My Mi A3 phone (about 4 plus years old.) has been misbehaving for some time. The last few days it was heating up and the battery was draining out very fast. It had to be recharged every 4-6 hours.
Priti has a very easy solution for all trouble giving gadgets. Throw them and buy a new one.
I don't like easy solutions.
Checked repair charges. Battery change and suspected water seepage near the charging point. Approximate repair charges Rs 2000/-
After getting a dressing down after our last TV purchase. I clear EVERY electronic purchase with Ajeet.
He heard Priti's idea and agreed with her. Generally everyone in the family including self agrees with her.
With ongoing freedom sale on Amazon, Ajeet researched and recommended Read me Note 10 pro WITH EXCHANGE OFFER. In WhatsApp, he also attached screenshots of how to order to help me out.

Following the screenshots, I ordered it by afternoon/evening of 7th August 2021.
Prompt reply by Amazon acknowledging order and intimating that order will be delivered between 700AM to 9:30PM. On 9 Aug 21. Amazon is quite efficient and fast, generally!
This being an exchange offer there was a long list of actions to be done on the old phone before delivery and a lot of actions to be done on the new phone after delivery and sign an exchange verification form before I was handed over the phone. If actions were not done delivery would not take place.
Sample of actions to be done before delivery :1. sign-out of google and other accounts, 2.remove SIM card. etcetc.
The Pin to remove the SM tray has been lost a long time back.
Did not know how to sign out of any of the accounts.
I had only waking hours of the 8th(yesterday) to complete all actions.
I googled and googled searching "HOW TO.........".
After a lot of effort, trials and errors,  raised blood pressure. Finally managed to complete predelivery actions. Time 1100 AM on 9 th
Waiting for the Amazon man.
Realised the adage  "Ignorance is bliss" does not hold good anymore.
In fact, this experience has inspired me a coin my own adage .
"LEARNED SKILL IS SOON FORGOTTEN, IF NOT USED OFTEN."

APPEAL - PLEASE MAKE THE FOOTPATH USABLE!!!!!!!

APPEAL - PLEASE MAKE THE FOOTPATH USABLE!!!!!!!

Nagpur MNC/Metro authorities..
Road stretch from Subash Nagar metro station towards Hingna is extremely popular with "morning walkers".
Footpath along this road had been rendered completely unusable due to the growth of weeds, uneven surfaces and open manholes of storm drains. Weed growth is so much that the open manholes are not even visible. See photo.

"Morning walkers" have to perforce walk on the road where there is always the danger of an accident taking place.

I request concerned authorities to get the weeds removed, repair uneven surfaces and properly cover the manholes.
Morning walkers will be thankful.
