`Letter to Editor- This time it is City Editor !

Sir ,
The stretch of  Shitalamata Temple to Octori post on Hingna road is used extensively for morning health walk  by a  large number of  citizens . Very long , unbroken foot path along the boundary wall of D G C A Transmission Station was a boon to these citizens as they did not have to worry about the Traffic.Over a period of time the foot path is over grown with weeds to such an extent that it can not be used by people taking morning walk .
Last year MSEB had dug up this stretch of road for cable laying . For a ling time the ditch was not filled up , finally when it was filled up almost 4-5 months back the work was done in a very shoddy manner and was not levelled at all . Portion where cable laying was done can not be used either by pedestrians or vehicles .
With The unusable foot path and shoddy ditch filling by MSEB almost 1/3rd of the road can not be used by any one . The morning walkers are thus forced to walk on the road , of which only 2/3rds remains usable by pedestrians , cycles . two wheelers . light and heavy vehicles etc .
The situation is ripe for an accident when one of the morning walkers or pedestrians will be knocked down by a motor vehicle .
A picture is worth 1000 words , I am attaching four of them showing the state of affairs. Two of the photos show where the pedestrians have to walk .

I will request the civic authorities to take action to clear the footpath and level the MSEB ditch .

Car Trip SeriesNagpur-Secunderabad-Nagarjunsagar-Srisailam-Alampur-Hampi,Badami Circuit-Bijapur=Nanded -Nagpur

Hi ,Visitor to this post , welcome,
If you really want to enjoy and take the trip with us some basic knowledge of how google maps work is necessary . If you got that good! Otherwise follow the tips given here.
Open larger map in a separate tab by right clicking the blue  link "View Larger Map"given below the map.on the map  the left side contains Title and brief description of the trip, the place marks and the route lines.right top corner of map has " map, sat, ter and earth"selections . a click will take you to that map mode . Best viewing is in map for route navigation and sat for places.

Left click on the place mark , Gray squares in this case , this takes you to the location of that place on the map( I have placed location to within +/- 10 feet actual location:-) ) and opens a information window of that place. For better and detailed viewing zoom in to the maximum .Zoom in and zoom out as much as you want for better viewing. The window of  place marks for places of interest  on the map incorporate THREE links .
First link : Mostly takes one to wikipedia link giving full details about that place .You will know almost every thing about that lace , worth knowing. Found it very interesting , informative and educative . If I have not been able to find it in wikipedia some other link is given
Second link : As I do not have soft copies of the trip this link gives access to Panoramia photos of that place . Thing of interest is that to get full benefit of the link you must navigate in this photo link . As you already know how to navigate , zoom in and zoom out I will not tell you . This link is also very interesting .
Third link : Takes you to google images page   to view additional photos of that place . However for reasons I have not been able to find some photos of other and unrelated places are also included so to know that you are looking at photo of correct place read the name of the photo.
When I have soft copies the map will have link to our own photos and panoramia and google images link will be removed..

Letter to Editor .

Sir,
The article "unmitigated sheer shame" by Shri Vijay Phanshikar hits the nail on the head . It is to the point , thought provoking and brings out a very live and vital subject and clearly brings out how the politicians and babus are only interested in lining their pockets with hard earned money of aam adami, unmindful of the tremendous harm it will do to the students of Maharashtra.
People still remember the time when employment advertisements used to clearly spell out that graduates from Bihar and Punjab Universities need not apply . The day is not far off when employment advertisements will clearly spell out,"MBAs from Maharashtra need not apply ."
Jai Maharashtra .

Letter to the Editor . Sent 08-09-10.

Sir ,
IAS sans accountability.
It was with great interest that I read the article published in the Insight of The Hitavada of Sunday the 8th September2010 by Mr Gopal Dixit,IAS (retd). We all should be grateful to Mr Dixit for writing this article as it is written by the one who belonged to the IAS cadre and hence may carry more credibility . What he says is 100 % true . I will go one step further and say that corrupt politicians and more then them the IAS cadre is responsible for  each and every draw back seen in India today , be it in social inequality , raising unemployment , increasing number of people below poverty line , and worst of all the massive and colossal corruption in each every walk of life . I hold IAS cadre more responsible because The Government run by the Ministers and the Ministers themselves are   held accountable , that they are not punished is different matter altogether , where as there is no accountability for the Babus belonging to the IAS .
After the 1962 defeat by China , which was considered a National shame , Pt Nehru , The PM suffered a sever stroke . VK Krishna Menon the Defence Minister, Gen Thapar the Chief Of Army Staff , Gen Kaul the Army Commander , The Corps Commander and all the Commanders down the line were sacked .Hundreds of soldiers were killed thousands wounded . The Defence Secretary and the Cabinet Secretary who were privy to and major contributors/supporters in formulating and decision making of the all the defence related policies( Mr Dixit called IAS officers "pivot"of decision making.) got of scot free . Today you may not even find who those worthy gentlemen were .
More recently After Mumbai attacks Mr Shivraj Patil , was sacked from his job and so were other I PS officers .Lot of Police and security personnel lost their lives . What was the punishment mated out to The Cabinet Secretary or the Chief Secretary of Maharashtra .The pivots of decision making!!!
The I A S cadre rules India from the posts of Collectors of a District , Commissioners of a Region , Joint Secretaries of Departments and so on till at the apex stands the Cabinet Secretary . Heads of most of the Public Sector Undertakings , State Electricity Boards , . almost all the Major Projects and welfare schemes  are being headed by Officers of the I A S . They are incharge .
Of all the welfare schemes only about 10 paise reach the target population . A fact acknowledged and stated by no less a person then Late Rajeev Gandhi as a P M of India.Who is held accountable .
Each and every project is delayed enormously and way beyond their PDCs (Projected Date of Completion). This results in cost over runs , at times almost doubling or tripling the original estimates and delays in the benefits reaching the population . Who is held accountable
Today's power cuts are result of non impletion and non completion of power projects in time . Who is held accountable..
In fact today there is no sphere of human activity and life which is insulated from the influence of the decisions taken and efforts made by the I A S to implement those decisions .A look around shows every thing in a mess with water logging , high prices , garbage heaps every where , the load shedding and what have you . Who is accountable .
The revelation by Mr Gopal Dixit that " the present system of decision making starts with initiating clerk so that the delays are explained away " was an eye opener .It is very rare to see an order , a important letter etc signed by an  IAS officer . It is because they never sign a document specially after reaching the rank of Joint secretary . This means that they are not accountable . No wonder they are never held responsible or punished .
The Government and The Prime Minister owe it to the people of India to completely overhaul the system of administration and governance .If things are to improve ,The IAS officers must be held accountable and punished for their acts of commission or omission .

Letter to Editor .

After getting discouraged due to non publicatio of my recent offerings . Wrote another letter . This time to the city editor . Let us see what happens.

Sir ,
In our country lot of welfare schemes for the poor, the PBL, the unemployed , Senior citizens etc are announced with lot of fanfare and drum beating by the Politicians and Govt Officials . However a system for monitoring and follow up is very seldom put in place. This results in the schemes dying natural death with out the benefits reaching  intended beneficiaries.
Few years back after some sensational murders of senior citizens, staying by themselves , Police dept  announced special scheme and promised protection to senior citizens with personal visits by the policemen to check on the well-being of such citizens . We had also registered ourselves in the scheme and were issued with senior citizens I-cards.We never had the benefit of a visit by the policemen but for few months some one from the police control room did ring up to check up if we were ok .Such calls were welcome .After some time these calls stopped . We have not heard from control room for more then a couple of years .
Fortunately both my wife and I have no serious medical problems other then facing armed assailants can look after ourselves .But we do wonder what about those senior citizens who due to serious medical problems do need some help . Will concerned authorities look in to the matter please.
