Letter to Editor.

There was a news item in Hitavada of 18-07-10.. A person who received a promotional SMS told the service provider that he has received SMS from so and so ( sender of the promotional SMS) that they would explode bombs in PUNE . This put in motion all the police machinery and the couple sending the promotional SMS had to really go through hellish experience . I felt that they got much more then what they deserved .Sent off a letter to the Editor to express my views .

Sir ,
It was with interest that I read the news report under this caption .
Tremendous explosion in the use of mobile phones for communication and very large subscriber base was seen as a boon by people seeking cheap medium for advertisement. So , any and every one started using mobile phone to advertise and promote their product through promotional SMA and calls .So much so that unsuspecting and hapless mobile subscriber was being flooded with such calls and SMS . Senders had no regards to the number of times the message was sent nor any regard as to the time of the day at which such messages were sent . It was not only a nuisance but gross invasion of privacy . People had to approach the courts and industry was forced to adopt some measures to save the subscribers from such gross violation of privacy and nuisance . However , the promoters do find ways and means to circumvent the DND ( Do Not Disturb) system and one has to approach the service provider to stop this nuisance and block the new offenders .
I therefore have no sympathies with any one who sends such promotional SMS or calls ,

The letter was printed in next day's paper . Wonder of wonders . No cut-pit at all . I think I am now getting the idea of what is the requirement of the Editors:-)

Edited and the printed version up-loaded today, on 04 Ausust 2010 . Nothing particular about the date except that this idea came to me today :-)
