SARANG-Maharashtrian fine dining.
New place in our locality.
Our friend Mandpe, during his morning walk, had been watching this place coming up. He loves good food. The catch phrase "Maharashtrian fine dining " of this new place, Sarang, caught his attention.
We decided to visit after its opening. We did it last night.
Simple non-flashy facade with a lion mouth fountain.
It has two dining places, one main dining hall and the other semi-open-air eating place. An alcove with a couple of tables offering an illusion of added privacy.
With everything being new, it was clean, spotless and shiny. All this resulted in the ambience being good.
Presently, the menu offers limited choices. We were told that gradually, taking the customers' requirements/ demand, fresh additional dishes, veg as well as non-veg, would be added. However, what is currently available would more than meet the requirements of an average food lover.
Plates and glasses, and cutlery were brass, new, clean and shiny. Hopefully, these looks will be maintained in times to come.
We had Sol Kadhi, Fish Koliwada, don't remember the exact count, but about six per late, resembled aloo or green chilly pakodas. Fish pakoda would be a better-suited name. Tasted like that as well. The taste of battered jacket totally overwhelmed the taste of the fish. Mini Bata Wada, six to a plate, mutton savoji, Phulka and Ghavan, three to a plate.
Each dish came up to expectations and did not disappoint. Saoji Mutton curry was particularly good.
Service was fast and good.
The staff was courteous and good.
With an average of R 500/- plus spend per head, I will say it was Maharashtrian fine dining all right, not only taste-wise but purse-wise as well 😋
