COVID-19. A Life changing event.

 COVID-19. A Life changing event.

There can be no two opinions about how adverse economic impact has changed many lives. Worst affected are travel, hospitality, hotels, restaurants. None of the changes were / are for the better. Only degree of adverse impact may vary from severe to mild.

One sees the fallouts of this all around us. What made me write this post was what I have noticed during my morning walk in the last few days.

This building housed a family restaurant and bar. I have seen this establishment  operating and serving customers for more that last 25 years or so. There used to ne notices hung out side vacancies for waiters, helpers etc.
It had to closedown due to COVID 19 lockdown. Few days back saw this notice offering the building on rent. However the board proclaiming a family restaurant and bar was very much there. Holding out hope of reopening after the rent lease was over. Now even that board is gone. The building looks desolate and sad
I have no knowledge as to the reasons why the owner had to rent it out. One should avoid negative thoughts, However times are such the negativity does creep in thinking,
I sincerely hope all is well with those connected with this restaurant. We wish them well and early recovery, normalisation of life.
This was yet another reminder of stark reality life changing events due to COVID 19.

Covid 19 and The Fearless Indian. - Morningwalk Vignettes.

During my morning walk I saw lot of people gathered in front of a shop. I was a Bit intrigued as it was quite early. 06:14 to be precise.  Looking closely I saw the crowd was in front Indian Broiler shop.

I stopped and asked one of the tailenders as to why so much crowd in front of a chicken shop. He gave pitying looks at my ignorance. He enlightened me.

अहो आज पोळ्याचा सणं आहे. चिकन मटण खाण्याचा दिवस आहे. म्हणून गर्दी आहे ( Sir today is pola festival, hence a day to eat chicken and mutton That is why the crowd.)

Pola is a thanksgiving festival of farmers and their families for their bulls. Pola is celebrated to acknowledge the importance of bulls and oxen, who are a crucial part of agriculture and farming activities. It is a day for pampering of Bulls, which may begin a day or two before Pola.

I just did not understand how eating chicken and mutton by these worthies would contribute to pampering of bulls.

I also noticed that  lot of them were not wearing masks. None was observing social distancing.

When I decided to write this blog I was wondering about the title for the blog. Thought of

1. The Fearless Indian.

2. The Festival Loving Indian.

Gave the former title.

I think more appropriate title would have been

"Covod19 and The Stupid Indian."

Not all were with masks. Where is social distancing

The Stupid Indian.

Morning Walk Vignettes.

Morning Walk Vignettes.

Bougainvillea in road divider. Hingna T point.

For the last months or so we are having good rainy spell. Best part is that we also had spells of bright sunshine with temperatures touching 35 degrees plus. With high humidity of as much as 95% plus it had a feel like 43 degrees. Making it sultry and uncomfortable for humans.
Under such conditions happiest living things are trees and plants.
They show the happiness with vibrant and thick growth of foliage and plentiful flowers.
During the morning wak saw this thick growth of bougainvillea planted in the road divider near Hingna T point. There are hundreds of varieties of bougainvillea and  flowers of many more colours. What also grabbed my attention was a shade of bougainvillea flower.
Even the hibiscus plats in our garden are loaded with blooms.
Go out in the morning. Enjoy the beauty of nature at it best this, time of the year.

The event will have its echos throughout the length and breadth of India.
So Nagpur, with headquarter of RSS can not be expected to remain untouched from those echo.
During my morning was I was greeted with this scene at Mangalmurti Chowk near our house.
Leading rom the crossing saffron buntings were tied and lots of flags were planted all around. Lot of volunteers male and females were busy creating big rangoli. When I reached there it was still incomplete.
Two photos taken on the occasion are given.
Only history will indicate how Bhagwan Sri Ram guides the destiny of India.

Feel like Temperature.

Feel like Temperature.
During my morning walk I always pass Hingna T point.
There is a electronic display board of NMC displaying information of current and social interest.
As is expected now a days they are mainly about Covid -19 precautions. In the loop they also display weather information taken at Sonegaon airport.
Loop takes a very long time to complete. Depending on the mood I wait for weather info or else continue with my walk. .
Photos of the weather displayed this morning on the monitor are attached.
Even though the temperature was only 34.4 it felt much hotter. That is because at 59 % humidity ''feel like temperature" was 42.4 degrees.
Those interested in knowing ''feel like temperature" can easily do so by using Heat Index Calculator.
We should be happy that our Air Quality Index is only 70 which is quite OK.
Stay safe. Stay well.
Have a nice day!
